2 Months old Baby
Friday, September 1st, 2006
A quick story about a small baby who is about 2 months, has wind which stinks and burps like an old man. He can drink a whole bottle of milk in 6 minutes, then has a big belch and then falls to sleep straight after. However, he only rests for about 5 minutes and then wakes up with a lot of energy for about 1 hour. Our baby continually moves his arms and legs and won’t sleep until all his energy is gone. I’m sure this isn’t what all babies do, as they normally like to rest after their feed.
I know babies like to cry to get attention because they are hungry or tired or have filled their nappies. However, ours just likes to be the Number 1 King and makes noise for no reason - so he must be very clever as he’s learning to talk.
Have a look at our babies’ photo and then to the right a photo of his Daddy, they look exactly the same!

Also, check out our new site - www.dubido.com a baby discussion forum in Hong Kong.

Birthday
Sunday, September 10th, 2006
This is a photo of my birthday cake, tasted great. I didn’t do much because our baby is very cheeky so means we cannot get a lot of rest.
Now baby is over 2 months I can have a bit more freedom. The Chinese Traditional way is that after baby is born, you cannot shower, wash hair, touch cold water or eat vegetables and fruit for 1 month - it’s difficult to follow as the weather is hot in Hong Kong.
I’m glad our baby is very healthy, cute and is a nice mix of Asian and Western - this is the best present I could receive.

Baby Activities
Tuesday, September 12th, 2006
In the first year, babies are learning so much, so fast. Their learning happens quite naturally and spontaneously in a safe, interesting and responsive environment. There is not a lot of “teaching” adults have to do during this time, but there are things you can do to get to know your baby better and to enjoy your time together.
Physical Development
Your baby is learning about her body. She is discovering that she has hands and is beginning to learn that she can do things with them. She is learning to coordinate her movements.
Give your baby plenty of time laying on her back, on a mat or the floor. When she is on her back, she has wonderful freedom of movement and she will naturally exercise her legs, back, neck, stomach and arms.
Allow her to have some time without her diaper on so she can move even more freely. Watching a baby move naturally like this is like watching a dancer.
She should only spend a limited amount of time in swings, baby chairs, baby jumpers, etc. While these pieces of equipment can be very convenient for parents, they don’t adequately support an infant’s physical development.
Communicating with Your Baby
Your baby is also busy learning that the world is a safe, responsive, nurturing place. She develops an essential sense of trust when her cries and other vocalizations are responded to, when her needs are met, and when she can smile and make someone smile back. The time you spend with her (if she is on the floor, you can get down there too, to be face-to-face with her) is important in building your special communication system. Long before she can talk, you and she will have elaborate verbal and nonverbal ways to communicate with each other. (As you hold her, for instance, she turns her head towards you and nuzzles, indicating she wants to nurse.)
Games, Toys, Talking and Singing with Your Baby
Try repeating the sounds she makes and wait to see what she does in return. This can be delightful for both parents and babies.
Play “peek-a-boo,” either with your hands or a scarf.
Try stuffing pieces of fabric into an empty Kleenex box so she can pull out one at a time until the box is empty.
Give your baby her own photo album. Cover pictures of family and other favorite things with clear plastic (sticky shelf paper or art cover) and hook them together with loose leaf rings for a small book. Then, just leave them on the floor nearby for her to look at. Remember, anything you give your baby should be safe for her to put in her mouth, because that is the way she explores the world.
Talk to your baby. Tell her about what you are doing to her when you change her diaper, lift her up, feed her. Tell her about what you are doing when you walk away to feed the cat or work on the computer. Describe to her what you see her doing. “It looks like you are working on finding that thumb to put in your mouth. Let her know you are listening to what she is telling you. “Oh, that sounds like a hungry cry. Are you telling me it is time to nurse?” All of this rich talking, listening and interacting not only teaches your baby about language, it helps to build your relationship with each other.
Turn the tape recorder on in “record mode” and just let it run near where you and she are playing. You will record some precious sounds and interactions that you will be able to listen to now, and later on when she’s older.
Baby Time: Just “Hanging Out”
Hanging out with your baby, when you don’t have other things to do, allows you to slow down to “babytime.” When you are on her time, it allows you to observe things you might otherwise miss. You might see her try again and again to get her thumb in her mouth. You might see her turn every time the cat meows.
If you have a moment, write some of these observations down in a journal or baby book. As impossible as it may seem, it will be hard to remember as she gets older.

Baby Diary
Friday, September 15th, 2006
Harrison had a nappy full of poo in the morning. We had to give him a bath to clear up his small bottom. He drank 140ml formula in midday, then felt asleep for 6 hours afterwards. He called Mami at 2am and 5am for milk as usual.
He start to talk to people with baby language which is ” ou..” , “oo..” or “u..”, also learnt to manage his hand. He tried to put his fist into his mouth, not like the other babies who just suck their small fingers.
We got a website for him and will help him to write a diary when it’s ready.

Full of gas and poo
Wednesday, September 20th, 2006
Harrison didn’t drink alot yesterday. he woke up at 7:00am and had 140ml formula. We played with him until 9:00am then he fell to sleep for 1 or 2 hours after had 80ml bottle. He didn’t want mani’s breast feeding, but was asleep for around 6 hours. We think that he got too much wind in the stomach. However, he poo twice during the night at 12:00am and 5:00am after a small feeding at around 4:00am and the second one was abit watery. Daddy think that he likes his bigger new nappy as he can have more freedom and happy to break wind & poo.
What a day for a small boy who is over 2 months old. We are wondering when he can get into a routine which is eat, activity and sleep.

Poo like Water
Thursday, September 21st, 2006
A bit worried about Harrison, as he’s starting to poo like water. Before made bowel movements every 2 days, now we are surprised he poo’s alot but some are watery.
For example at 2am, he did a water one, 7am was ok, 11 was ok but then at 3pm he started to poo like water again.
We know he is losing alot of liquid when he poo’s like this, so this is our worry. If he keeps on doing it then we’ll get his doctor to check it out…

Mami’s mistake
Friday, September 22nd, 2006
Mami feels very sorry for small Harrison as she made a mistake.
We did a bath for baby late at night as he left a little deposit on his nappy. He was relaxed and enjoying the warm water and moved his legs.
As usual, mami need to apply some body cream for baby, however, she made a mistake this time. she put some bath gell all over baby’s body and she didn’t notice and was wondering why the cream is so thick. When she realise the mistake, she couldn’t stop laughing and felt guilty for baby.
We had to have another bath for baby to clear up the bath gell…poor baby Harrison.

Saturday, September 23rd, 2006
Today we were playing with Harrison and he was trying to talk loud with his baby language. Daddy wanted to go out for shopping. He gave mami a peck and noticed Harrison’s eyes was big and looked at Daddy. He was jealous of Daddy kissing Mami and was wondering what’s going on.

Wake up fart
Tuesday, September 26th, 2006
This is a very funny story. Harrison had a deep sleep today. We wanted to wake him up as it’s 11:43am now. He slept with 2 hands up and his lovely pink face on the side. Mami get in his room to check and accidently broke wind. She couldn’t bear to laugh, Harrison woke up by the noise and feel to sleep again. The funny thing is that Daddy came in and then farted loud to wake him up, however, he moved his head and went back to sleep again.
Both of us couldn’t stop laughing whilst little Harrison slept well. Hope that wan’t the reason we got a windy baby.
